There Is A Hell… by Bring Me The Horizon

There Is a Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It, There Is a Heaven Let’s Keep It A Secret is the third full length album from UK rockers Bring Me The Horizon, who are commonly on the receiving end of much hatred from the metal community. They are usually labeled as fake metal, normally because of their many young, female fans. That has never stopped Bring Me The Horizon from bringing the noise before, and for the most part, thats exactly what they did with their third record.

For the most part, the album can be considered an improvement over the good but somewhat generic Suicide Season. The songs are more varied and better written. Many orchestra like instruments such as brief piano and violin segments, are introduced into tracks, and many make guest appearances. This, while it may seem good at first, is the biggest issue with the album. Lights is featured twice, and Josh Franceschi of You Me At Six and Josh Scogin of The Chariot each appear once. One in three tracks feature guest vocals. This inherently degrades the integrity of the album as an original piece by Bring Me The Horizon, since 33% of tracks aren’t just the core band.

Stand out tracks on There Is A Hell Believe Me I’ve Seen It, There Is A Heaven Lets Keep It A Secret are Fuck, Alligator Blood, Blacklist, Visions, and The Fox and the Wolf. Bring Me The Horizon have crafted a more mature, albeit a touch over produced, album.

There Is A Hell Believe Me I’ve seen It, There Is A Hell Believe Me Lets Keep It A Secret  gets a 4 out of 5.
